Oh, we just had to show you this! Since this month is all about putting everything in its place, why shouldn't we try organizing our pets? The Kitt-In Box (hardy ha) is a small cushioned pet bed that either sits on or clamps to your desk.
Jump down for product details, as well as more desktop cuties...
Kitt-In Box can support up to 20 lbs (when clamped) so tiny dogs can doze too. The bed comes with rubber feet and felt pads to prevent scratching and is available in three different stains. The Refined Feline is selling this pet-centric product for $49.99.
So what do you think: would this inbox really prevent keyboard sprawl or is it out?

I love it! It makes me want a cat.
ha... my kitten would never go for this. she does everything she can to be either on my keyboard or perching on my shoulder while i use the computer.
but it is wonderful to see some nice pet-centric design that would require passing up new clothes for spring :)
I smell DIY but I have a feeling my cats would just ignore it and still try to sit in between me and the keyboard.
Ha - prevent keyboard sprawl! Unlikely... this will more likely find use for paper storage than kitten storage.
I am glad, however, to know that I am not the only victim of chronic keyboard sprawl.
my cat would use it as a spring board to leap onto the keys
I think my cat would use it if it had a pile of papers in it instead of a cushion.
My kitty would ignore it too -- I tried making him a comfy spot next to the keyboard, but he still sat on the keyboard. I have the best success in putting him on my patented Portable Dual Parallel Sweatpant-Clad Muscle Thighs. They work great, and are free! (Sweatpants not included.)
I have a basket on the desk for the cats. Sometimes they sit in it, other times on the keyboard or behind the computer attempting to chew all the cords.
I'm convinced my cats are really puppies trapped in cat bodies who will chew anything left unattended.
The tray would be a perfect vantage point for my cat to gnaw on the tulips.
My cat doesn't sprawl on the keyboard - maybe because it's a laptop. She'll occasionally be up on the desk when I'm on the computer, but it's all too static for her - more likely, she'll be around the corner setting up a meowing clamor for me to pay attention to her.
My cat is hysterically laughing...she just might snort any minute now...
My cat stays on the floor. He will stiff at the food on the table from a chair, but never puts a paw on the countertops or tables. He is a product of good training, and very well rewarded for it. This Kit-In box might be good for papers or clutter...
yeah. the cat is going to sit in the box. ha ha ha.
I like that ad, too. Clever idea, but my cat won't use anything I've paid for. She likes to lie in the space between the edge of the desk and the keyboard, so sometimes I just reach under her and type. I used to have a desk with a keyboard tray. My other cat liked to sleep on my lap, so I got really good at balancing on the back chair legs so I could pull the keyboard tray out and type!
Pteetsa - my cats do the same thing.
The best way for me to keep them off my computer is to sprawl some random papers. Anywhere. They see a piece of paper laying anywhere and they have to lay on it. It's so weird.
Hahaha, whether that works or not, that photo is pure gold.
Really funny!!!!
I think the problem is two-fold:
1) cats want to sit on anything you are using, be it papers or a keyboard; 2) cats like warm things and keyboards, especially laptop keyboards, are warm
So I think if this had a pile of heated papers it might work. Maybe.
but part of the point for the cat is to be as annoying as possible. that means sitting on the keyboard, papers, whatever the person is working on. cats are too smart to go for something like this.
I'd like to see the model for large breed dogs.
Anyone who has a cat knows that this simply will not work. Beyond that, this woman doesn't need a Kitt-in-Box clamped to her desk, she just needs a bigger desk!
Haha! That cat in the second picture is all "you know in 5 seconds, I'm going to get up and sprawl out on your keyboard, right?"
I'm so glad im not the only one with this problem! I have a kitty bed right beside my computer on my home desk. One cat sits there... one sits on the floor... he is not a problem... but the kitten loves to type, all she does is jump up and down and type... no Kitt-in a box would stop her!
now if they'd only invent something to prevent cats from jumping on my lap the moment i open up a newspaper.. ha. this is hilarious. i'm so with you gregory, that photo is pure gold.
Oh...my...god. I love it.
But my cat is only attracted to the patches of sun on the desk or floor, or a warm lap.
Part of me still wants this, though. Must...fight...consumer...tendencies!
This would only work for my cat if the cushion was coated in a strong adhesive. My cat likes nothing better than to send garbled messages via my IM, or to confound my password protect by typing in a 300 character word over and over.
Yea...can someone explain cat/paper love? Because my cat is obsessed.
Har! Imagine this issue, x4. For right now, the cats each sprawl next to either side of our monitors (2 desks).
Now if we were to install Maine Coon sized shelves on the wall behind the desks, that might work or maybe an large shadow box since they can't resist anything box like.
Once we puchase a home, we plan on installing built in shelves and desks to house all our computers and other organizational needs. Ikea's AVSIKT Roll-front cabinets seem like they were made to be cat beds since they can be easily closed when we have to make the place look pretty and opened while we use the room.
I know a cat who likes to supervise computer activities from an open desk drawer which is lined with newspaper.
I also really like the photos - they reflect the quality you get when working with professional human and cat actors.
My cat lays on the keyboard to get my attention. It won't help.
I didn't read all the comments, so apologies if I repeat something. I don't have pets, but I think that's a great idea for an in-box/paper tray in general. Keeps things accessible but off the desk surface. Or you could even store your different office tools/supplies there.
unless they design something that places my cat on a perch which rests directly between myself and the computer screen, I can guarantee that my cat wont be interested.
