Although we tend to be big champions of colour here on AT, we can also find the beauty in a neutral room. If that's your bent, the key to making sure this kind of space doesn't look beige and boring but beige and beautiful is by layering on texture. Hard, soft, flat, woven, rough, smooth can be used with all the dexterity of colour...

In our own home, after living with colour, we've been having a yen to swap it all out for a blanker canvas. With that goal in mind, we've started casually looking at rugs. This one, from Flocks, knit from the wool of 17 sheep (no joke!), is at the top of our list. It's fun and inviting without being too serious. Flocks, a knitwear brand based in Rotterdam, is the brainchild of Christien Meindertsma. It's also the source of these poufs we've been noticing, and coveting, for a while.

If anyone can locate such a thing as a list of stockists and prices on the FLOCKS website ... you're a better man than I, and please speak out as to how you did it!

Re: the rug. It is going to curl on the sides due to the nature of the reverse st st. It needs garter stitch on the sides.

Realize that this kind of thing will definitely snag. No claws. No high heels. And you certainly can't run a vacuum on it.

What's up with the British spelling of the word "color" on AT lately? Will I become fancier if I start spelling it that way too?

A.meyer, I am originally from Canada and that is how I spelled colour for years. I often fall into that habit when I have been reading other sites that USE that spelling. And that is easy to do these days, with all the sites, like I just posted this link:

That's their spelling. But I have spell check that tells me that I am not correct. Spell check doesn't like centre either.

If any of the people here on AT pick up the way I do, they probably spell it as they have just read it.

Ditto for sentence structure. People will pick up different sentence structure from doing a lot of reading of a particular kind.

It is particularly apparent with kids and the text messaging. Shortening words as much as possible.

The Internet has it's own language too, with the emoticons. Symbols replacing facial expressions.

Or read about Haiki, write some, and then I found myself doing my grocery list in Haiku. I was thinking in Haiku. Talking in Haiku. Everything was thought about before it was spoken, and it all had to come out in the 5-7-5 structure.

I'm Aspie, so I do stuff like that, but it's just exaggerated in me and I am aware of it...I think other people do it, but it's much more subconscious and they aren't always aware of it.

Love the pouf. Placing furniture on the rug in the photo would be next to impossible to get a level surface not to mention the issues with snagging and tripping. No thanks.

This seems really impractical. I have a dog, so this would never work for me.
