The Generation at the Knoll showroom two weeks ago.

Today, I give you a world premier look at the brand new Knoll Generation Chair. Designed by Formway Design of New Zealand, it took over three years to design and build...

It's made of a new elastomer that allows the back support to flex and fit into your back in a much softer and unconventional way (it's been used as a hinge in dishwashers). It debuted at NeoCon just last month and won gold. It just went on sale two weeks ago, but won't be available online until Friday

BTW, this is not a paid product plug. I just like reviewing task chairs... :-)

While I haven't Test Labbed it yet, the back is way different and much more conference-friendly chair in that it allows you to turn around and talk to people easily (the back even folds over). It doesn't have the tall back or the "command seat" mentality. This is more of a comfortable, sit-any-way-you-want, slacker chair with style. I'm waiting for a sample that we can all test here in the office, and I'll give you our rating as soon as we're done. Let the task chair wars continue!

You can see the sides are really open so you can even sit sideways and turn yourself around.

This elastomer stuff is soooooft and rubbery, but also firm enough to hug your back.

This was the funny part - the seat really bends down so you can talk over the back of it.
