Earlier this week I asked about collections that creep you out. I still hold that dolls will forever give me the wiggins, but I have zero qualms with these beautiful lighting and furniture designs that are literally made from nature. As in insects and other creepy crawlies. Yup, they're totally the bee's knees (literally).
These limited pieces from designer Kobo Sin are simply breathtaking. It doesn't matter if you love or hate the idea, there's no denying that they're quite stunning. Here's what the artist has to say about the collection:
Exploring human's relationship with nature. We are losing touch with the natural world around us. The aim of this project is to confront and shock people by turning unwanted and unused parts of nature into provocative products and pulling nature back into people's minds.
There are bones, intestines and whole insects used in these creations. There are more stunning photos over at the artist's website. So stop by and take a closer look at what really went into the pieces shown above and the rest of the collection.

White Enamel Flatwa...
the 'intestine' light is quite stunning.
the 'fly paper' light...not so much. it's odd that he would add the flies for you, when over time you could easily 'acquire' your own collection =P
The GMO table is really quite beautiful.
they are all beautiful, but i wish i didn't know what went into making the intestine one...
i just got an actual chill from that snake lamp.
Counting down till the anti-taxidermy crowd shows up....
Well, in spite of their writeup, they don't really say how they've sourced these things?
Those are all disgusting. It's not art, it's macabre and IMO designed purely for shock value. Repulsive.
I'd guess your personal response to this will be determined largely by prior experience. This doesn't say home to me, but rather junior high biology class.
I dig it. I've always liked those bleached cow skulls as 3D objects and in Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings. Those table lamps must use a battery-powered LED because they have no cord. Love the no cord bit. And how the light illuminates the liquid in the jars.
Bleah!
so not vegan
scary
I like them...and seconding the dread for the arrival of the PETA cavalcade. One friend's ex-girlfriend came over my house, took one look at a decorative cow skull, and started screaming at me. It took way more time than it should've to explain to her that it died of natural causes.
That said, I don't know where these pieces were sourced so....maybe I'm being a bit prejudiced?
On aesthetic merits, though, I still like the pieces.
Wow, I love this!
Me no likey... a little too Garbage Pail Kids for my tastes.
And I come from a ranch where I trip over animal bones on a deadly basis. (Most of them from the squirrel and bird buffet my mom's lapdogs treat themselves to each morning).
BTdubs, that "deadly basis" was a typo! Left it in because it made me LOL, obviously I meant daily basis.
I agree this is just shock value, there's no art behind this. I would never bring all that dark energy into my home.
The snake reminds me of the snake wine I saw in Vietnam. They would make alcohol with snakes in glass jars and leave them on shelve for all to see while they were fermenting. Gross.
Oh wow! Not my cup of tea but my boys would love this!
