Kohler DTV Prompt Digital Showering System

One may wonder, why would kitchen and bath hardware manufacturer Kohler decide to get into the digital television market, as might be construed by their product line's name, DTV Prompt. That's what we thought when we first glanced at Kohler's interactive waterworks display at this year's Dwell on Design exhibition. But the recently updated Kohler system is actually a simple push button bathing control solution for precise water management with a few smart features thrown in...

With just four buttons on the simple to use control panel, the Kohler DTV Prompt system was designed for more precise control of water temperature than a typical handle-style shower (we also like the digital clock, a convenient feature for those of us in a rush in the morning). A warm up setting keeps showering temps at a comfortable range before getting in, and a pause button lets you conserve water when shaving or washing hair. And for those looking to curtail excessive water use, whether it be for yourself or someone else in the family who hogs up all the hot water, there's a countdown timer that can be set for 4-12 minute length, beeping at the 2 and 1 minute marks to hint it's time to get out, Aquaman.

The Kohler DTV Prompt works with one or two water outlets, including traditional showerhead, hand shower or bath filler, and is available in four finishes. Price for the control panel is $187 and $455 for the thermostatic valve (not including installation).
