I can't understand a damn word in the accompanying text, but Swedish magazine Sköna Hem shared a look at a bright and sunny home that makes me crave spring in a real way. The story is that two adult sisters live in one house along with their families. But you might as well dream up your own behind-the-scenes tale because I have no idea what else is going on here.
Sköna Hem, which means "comfortable home" in Swedish, always puts together the best features on warm modern decor in real homes. Don't be put off by the language barrier, because we can still learn a lot from pictures. Design is the universal language!
And if anyone wants to take a crack at translating the article, please go for it, because Google isn't doing so hot.

Beautiful...in any language!
Beautiful. Where do you get Skona Hem? Every time I see pictures from it on here, I always love them. Not that I speak Swedish, but if all the pictures are this great I think I'm OK with that. All the spaces I've seen from them have some common characteristics that I love: use of white & wood with splashes of color, a mix of old and new and rustic and slick, open airy spaces with lots of light, and a style that is unpretentious but put together. The use of traditional spaces and furniture pieces that still have a modern feel is so hard to achieve. Lovely. :)
That couch is to die for.
Not great, but slightly translated http://intertran.tranexp.com/InterTran?from=swe&to=eng&type=url&url=http://www.skonahem.com/inspirerande-hem/hemreportage/kollektivliv-pa-strandvage/&Submit=Translate
Why? WHY? Why do the Swedes seem to be able to decorate effortlessly and without even trying?
I'm *this close* to subscribing to that there Skona Hem, costs and language barrier be darned.
Just as you said, it talks about these 2 sisters (twins) and their families living under the same roof ( cat and a dog). They have decided to live close so they could help out with each others families...
Rest of the story is just talking about furniture and colors and stuff
:)
Job prospects for us Scandinavian studies graduate students are too slim to allow us to do free translations. :-(
Ridiculously gorgeous. sigh
This is the most marvelous decor job I have seen in a long time. They effortlessly combined so many styles/periods to create an amazingly unique look. I am so particular about what I like and I am floored.
btw, does anyone have any clue who made the yellow painting in the living area? i die...
They must do all of their photography in the summer because Stockholm is seriously dark and gray for a good portion of the year.
Ja'dore! All the prints against the whites. Effortlessly chic.

Limegrön målning av Agneta Livijn
The limegreen painting is by Agneta Livijn.
I took that from the photo caption.
Kollektivliv på Strandvägen = sharing living facilities on "Beach Street"
Sköna Hem = beautiful homes
I love that round coffee table! Anyone has suggestions where I can find something like that?
I know, it's like TORTURE to look it these photos. White paint never looked so good. Also, does anyone know where I can buy that view in photo #7????
so cozy.
I am swedish and although I too find the pictures nice, they are kind of standard. Swedes might be good at decorating, but pretty much all of the homes here are the same - lots of white, a certain mix of old and modern and generally just very much alike each other. Nice, but not very original (just look around at the other swedish interior design papers or the real estate site hemnet.se and you will see exactly what I mean).
Also, for these sisters - Strandvägen is the most expensive street in all Sweden (I suppose it would be compared to the Champs Elysees in Paris or the 5th Avenue in NY) so these sisters are surely not "ordinary" sisters that can't afford to have a interior designer for help.
I love the high ceiling! Love it! and love that round coffee table too!
Our 80 pound dog would love that place. Now I see why I have all dark and leather furniture.
Nice place!
Does anyone know where I can get blinds like that?
