Name: Kristin & Greg
Location: Budapest, Hungary — District 2 across from Margit Island Park
We are two American expats — a landscape designer and an environmentalist/editor — living in Budapest with our kids and cats. Two years ago we bought an 1,800 square foot apartment in an art nouveau building. The place — which has 8-foot windows and 12-foot ceilings — hadn't been touched in so long there was a woodburning water heater in the bathroom!
so we completely renovated it, restoring original hardwood floors, adding vivid colors to nearly every wall, and furnishing it with a combination of period furniture and various paintings/crafts collected on our travels. with the help of a municipal grant we also added a garden with antique fountain to the building's common courtyard.
Thanks Kristin & Greg!

Lovely! My favorite shot is the balcony, w/the pretty plants and ochre walls and nice doors.
Wow - that garden is to-die-for. Lovely, lovely.
I am so envious of the first pic, just beautiful!
Would love to see a full house tour.
If the first pic is a balcony, it is beautiful. If it's the walkway to the front door, it's still beautiful, but you'd have to be very careful that you don't fall down and go boom.
I could live on that balcony forever!!! Gorgeous!
"landscape designer"--and a really good one. The first shot, before reading, all I thought was, "okay, a professional landscaper/gardener has to live here."
Just by looking at the photo I knew it was Budapest, as I live in a similar building :) And I used to live in the yellow building on the last photo. Nice renovation, and I love the art deco side table.
Aahhhh...you know spring is not too far off when you start to see posts with outdoor plantings. I've seen a couple of gorgeous balconies featured today that are a breath of fresh air. It's a sight for sore eyes after this winter!
Love the plants! So nice to have an outdoor space!
Nice pieces of furniture.
(May I add? Flowing water right above the head - while sleeping - is regarded as particularly bad feng shui. Better to put picture in another room.)
PS: Love the potted plants. Skillfully handled.
