My floor to ceiling arched windows! They bring so much light and beauty to the living area. Living in a historically preserved building provides great architecture along with beautiful hardwood floor throughout and simple touches like my view of a stone bridge over the pond next to a wishing well. The abundant trees and greenery outside of my windows give a feel of serenity and create an escape from the big city. It truly feels like old Hollywood!
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
Learn to live the minamalistic lifestyle. Keep it simple, organized, and make sure everything has a home. When all is put away, your small space can be very impressive!
Be bold! Don't be afraid to make bold choices like painting a wall or buying a statement piece you love. I always wanted a black velvet sofa, but never thought it could work in a small space. I also rotate my decor and art quite frequently for change of season or mood. Pieces feel more special when there is less clutter. Friends tell me my space always looks different when they visit and I love that!
Eliminate the area rug. While this was extremely hard for me and my love of textiles, it was the best decision I have made. I can now easily change my living space by moving the chairs, cubes/coffee table, and even the sofa to accommodate my entertaining and personal needs. You can even lay out a yoga mat!
