Austin has received yet another design award! La Condesa, a fancy tex-mex restaurant in Austin's downtown 2nd Street District, has won the People's Choice Award for best restaurant at the AIA Los Angeles Restaurant Design Awards...
Designed by the successful team of architect Michael Hsu and interior designer Joel Mozersky, La Condesa joins the ranks of other popular and gorgeously designed Austin spots like Uchi and The Belmont. Featuring a blue staircase, fresh wood furniture and bright modern art, it's obvious why La Condesa has won the award. Although we haven't made it over there to try the food yet, we hear it's not half bad, either. For more information visit the La Condesa website.

We were just here this past weekend for dinner and drinks. It's quite an experience because the actual interior is so beautiful it makes you want to stay there for a few hours! Apparently there is a vault that you can have parties in too. Check out the drink menu - they have a famous mixoligist who has come up with all the incredible cocktails.
*sigh* I have city envy. (I live in Cleveland . . )

A vault?
Is the building a repurposed bank?
Thank you for posting this restaurant design. The wood on the exterior gives the space a urban feel and the tall windows are a great way to tie the outside and inside together. The colors on the interior are very bright and create a welcoming atmosphere. Thank you again for the post.
