LA Good Questions: For Trade Only Prices?

Dear AT, I recently hired a professional interior decorator to help redesign my living room. Although they've done an amazing job, the combined cost of their professional expertise and the furnishings/decorative really emptied out my wall to cobwebs. Is there any way to get direct access to trade-only pricing so I can save a little money for my next round of updates?

Hi Toby, you might want to check out L.A. Design Concepts, an interior design service in Marina del Rey that caters to consumer purchases at near trade professional prices. The company offers trade-only options with a 20% markup from cost and offer over 300 different brand names that run the gamut in styles from antique to contemporary, with some convenient service that takes some of the legwork and mystery out of shopping for certain furnishings that you might see online or in print, but cannot find in person.

The process involves first finding items you like in a home design magazine or showroom. After contacting L.A. Design Concepts with the name of the manufacturer, the name and/or number of the model, and the color of your choice, they will return with a price set at 20% above the wholesale price (traditionally interior designers charge 33-40%). Then LADC files the paperwork, expedites the order, schedules delivery to the client's home and provides any follow-up at no additional cost. Another bonus: Sales tax will not be added to most purchases made outside of California (sorry Angelenos).

You can even gain access to trade-only showrooms by contacting L.A. Design Concepts; they'll provide the paperwork that states you as a client of their service (you still have to inquire about pricing via L.A. Design Concepts). Phone (310) 581-3774, e-mail info.ladc@ca.rr.com
