Location: Venice, CA.
Size: 500 square feet (ish)
Years lived in: 2 years
Inspiration: Other people's homes
As soon as I got word of my eviction, I knew that I wanted to document my apartment before she was taken from me. This was my first place and inspired me to try out all kinds of furniture arrangements and colors. Most of all I just had fun. Eventually I even got inspired to enter the smallest coolest contest and made it as a finalist, thus beginning my relationship with AT. I've never 'finished' my apartment and there are a million and one things I would want to change, but c'est la vie, on to the next place!

Favorite Room: Living Room
Most talked about element: The paint color in the hall
Most embarrassing element: That it's never finished. I just keep moving stuff around, so one room or corner is always the dumping ground for what I'm not quite sure what to do with...
That and that I just absolutely love my 'for like ever' poster even though we've all already seen it everywhere. Oh, and that I have a broken mirror in the living room. Anyone have a good glass/mirror person?
Element that makes your knees weak: The original windows and doorknobs and the view. And that I inherited my grandmother's danish modern sofa and chair.
Proudest DIY: Hmmm, I haven't done that much besides moving a lot of furniture by myself and painting.
Dream source or item: A big french farm table and the space to put it in, Muji (can we please have one here), Habitat, and all of the furniture in my other grandmother's apartment in Paris.
Reality source: Craigslist, Estate Sales, Target, Ikea, Thrift Stores
Best advice: Just do it, whatever it is, just jump in, you'll always learn something. That and color is fun. Oh and ask for help. That's a big one. Oh and those discs that you can put under furniture to help move it, invest in those.
Had forever: Well I have a lot of stuff that's been in the family for a while. I inherited all kinds of things from my grandmother (like her dish towels, pillows, plates and bowls, and of course the sofa). I also LOVE old photographs of family. So I have magazines framed in the hall of my mom. She was a model back in the day and I have spent days just going through all of her old pictures. And then I have old pictures of my dad and grandma and as much family as I can fit. It was on my list to create a wall of photos, but it will have to wait for the next place!
Just got:The coffee table in the living room. Found it at an estate sale. It wasn't what I would normally choose, but I decided to take a risk.
Any additional plans?: Now that I've moved, I have a ton of plans, but nothing concrete yet, first I need to get rid of some things....
