When you're living with someone, it's the little things that can spark the biggest fights. Like whether you fall into the over or under camp when it comes to replacing the toilet paper. We fall into the over camp. We’ve even been known, usually when we’re expecting guests, to make sure the end’s been folded into the hotel triangle. What about you? Survey after the jump

Seeing as our three cats will make any freewheeling roll of toilet paper into a clawed-up pile on the floor within thirty seconds, we're of the "neither" camp... we keep it upright on a shelf out of reach of the felines.
UNDER is the only way!
why?
Over sucks.
UNDER is the only way!
why?
Because she's really short.
Really?
After growing up in a house where I was the ONLY person to ever replace toilet paper, I am simply grateful that it's there!
Up/down, over/under, sideways/through...does it really matter?
I can't believe this is even up for debate. The correct way is obviously OVER. End of discussion.
Over! I was afraid I'd have to switch to under when I got my dog, but thankfully he has no interest in the bathroom because that's where all the baths take place!
Over is the right way.
under if you have cats or toddlers.
as a joke i always fold the end into a triangle when i have someone over. i gotta get that origami toilet paper thing AT showed last month.
that's so strange- i just slept over my boyfriend's house last night and realized, this morning, that I much prefer the toilet paper "over." I struggled to reach it this morning when it was "under" and too flush (no pun intended) against the back wall. Funny!
OVER. If hotels universally agree that "over" is way to go, who am I to disagree? (And to to mention, the thought of "under" makes my flesh crawl. Don't ask me why. I have no reasonable explanation.)
In the semi-arid regions of the American southwest, scorpions will occasionally hide on the backside of the toilet paper (especially in a concave holder). With the paper in the "over" position, you will see the scorpion, but in the "under position" it is harder to see. Once you have met the scorpion, that ends the discussion.
This is simple... it really depends which you prefer - usability or aesthetics.
Under looks better / Over is easy to use.
I was raised in an "under" household, but my husband told me in very plain terms that my family had it all wrong. So, having adapted to his "over" preference, I now have to tolerate criticism from my mother that I don't even know how to install the toilet roll!
Can someone PLEASE explain to me why "under" would be better? It's simply ridiculous to have to fiddle under the backside of the holder or against the wall trying to find the end of the roll, when all you're trying to do is take care of business.
OVER is so much easier, and only looks as sloppy as you leave it. It's not like it's a problem to tear cleanly and leave it rolled up.
hasn't this query been posted several times already on AT??
My girlfriend thinks that I'm crazy for even recognizing the difference.
But, OVER.
My partner likes it over but I couldn't give a rats ass either way. We utilize a shelf-there's not a good place for a "roll holder"
Toilet paper. Yes.
Under means the paper is always ready to roll. There's a nice lip, usually about 1/2 the size of a sheet waiting for you.
I like over, but considering what a chore it is to just put it on the holder I can't justify an emphatic response (honestly, I don't know why, but for some reason new rolls tend to stay on the counter or- in the worst cases- on the floor in front of the toilet). But now that I've learned about hiding scorpions, I'm considering being emphatic about over.
Over!
And yes, I'm OCD enough to change it when it's incorrectly placed under (how dare they). Though I've gotten better about not changing it in other peoples houses. ;)
