Happy New Year! And Happy New Decade! Today's date, 2010, is one of those rare dates that's the same forwards as backwards so before we take a leap into the future, let's take a look back at the past. Like many of us, this past week the Los Angeles Times Home & Garden section took a look back at what 2009 held. From what's on sale to what was in the movie theatres to a look at their compatriots (us!) to a look at their best articles, we're looking forward to looking back. And, starting tomorrow, we'll be proceeding full steam ahead into 2010.

Apartment Therapy reveals best and tiniest in Small Cool home contest: Ahem...that would be us. To check out the best of our best (and smallest), click here. Starting tomorrow, a new crop of articles to get your own home ready for 2010's contest.

The dirt on the 'It's Complicated' vegetable garden: Gotta hand it to that Nancy Meyers, she knows how to get the design community buzzing. In "Something's Gotta Give" it was the kitchen, in "The Holiday" the two houses (Kate's or Cameron's?). In her latest, "It's Complicated", it's the garden.

The Deal: Let the year-end clearance sales begin: That stool from Garnet Hills's caught our eye and at that price, it's a distinct possibility (it'd make a fabulous end table!). Here's a round up of the best bargains.

Best of 2009: Most-read L.A. at Home articles: In case you missed any stories (though we try to link you to the best each week), here's the round up.

Other articles you might want to check: The Deal: Jack Cards online greeting-card concierge ensures you won't forget your anniversary this year and Best of 2009: L.A. at Home's most popular photo galleries
