The popularity of Guitar Hero only underlines the collective dream we all have of being a rock star and the lavish lifestyle that goes along with it. In its occassional feature on the homes of music personalities, the Los Angeles Times checks out the home recording studio of will.i.am. and, on the eve of a furniture auction to benefit the Streisand Foundation, talks to the legendary star about her vast furniture collection. For something that's more within the reach of the rest of us (especially those of us who live in Southern California), there's a look at an indoor/outdoor office and a line of furniture that holds up to whatever a kid or a dog can spill on it. Looks like dreams can come true...

Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am creates a lavish home studio: The inspiration for Will.i.am's home recording studio? Dr. Suess's Horton Hear A Who. Throw a little Tudor, a little 40s French Moderne, a little neo-Baroque into the mix, and you have something decidely eccentric. This is definitely not like your average recording studio.

Barbra Streisand furnishes her design taste: On the eve of a two day auction to benefit her foundation, a nonprofit that supports environmental and women's health programs, Barbra Streisand discusses her furniture collection style and how it evolved.

The alfresco office: When David Fishman's office started to take over the master bedroom, his wife decided it need to go out. And out it went. Outside that is. The indoor/outdoor home office proved surprisingly easy to furnish.

Slobproof! New affordable furniture uses Crypton fabric as a shield against pets, husbands: Crypton fabric, which covers the new furniture line from interior designer Debbie Wiener, is aptly named. Weiner, the author of Slob Proof! Real-Life Design Solutions, designed the line for real living. This is fabric that goes beyond Sunbrella.
