What inspired you to use color? Color has it's own vibration and energy. It is important to me that the colors I pick match who I am as an individual. When I drive up to my house and see all the color, I immediately get happy. When I work at my desk, I feel joy in my environment. When I take a bath, I am engulfed with bright colored glass. My house is full of natural wood floors and furnishings. The colors I have picked for each room accent the natural tones of the wood. I picked colors that easily flow into each other and contrast well. The end result of all my color choices is that it is simply FUN. The side effect is that I am doing my own small part to keep Austin weird.
Color Tip: If you get stuck with not being able to pick the right color trim just mix a little white in until you get the exact color that appeals to you. Paint a stick with the new color you created and head to the paint store for the perfect match.

Fall Colors Introduction -------------------------------
Welcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...
1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide
The 40 best, completed entries will be posted on a daily basis for three weeks. You can view them all at anytime via our new, improved contest pages under ALL ENTRIES. During this time your comments are VERY IMPORTANT as our six judges will be choosing 16 finalists from each region based on comments and their own colorful opinion.
2. Voting Phase - you vote till you drop
Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.
Best, Maxwell

I LOVE it absolutely! It's so youthful and cheery. This place must be a joy to come home to day after day.

I'm not a fan of the interior, but I absolutely LOVE the green building in the first picture. It would be a wonderful workshop! You're a brave soul, my friend. :)

This reminds me of Hundertwasser's architecture. It's very weird indeed, but happy and alive.

I couldn't personally do it, but somehow it works.

Lois - love the colors! How long did it take you to put this all together? I'd love to know more about the glass tiles in the bathroom. While I am not as brave as you to envelope the home with vibrant colors of the rainbow, I can appreciate your style! I vote for you as NUMBER ONE in the COLOR CONTEST!!!

Too too much. Color does not have to feel manic.

Wow! You are certainly not afraid of color. What a colorful and happy home you have.

Too bright to look at first thing in the morning.

Love the exterior, but not such a fan of the interior. But it's certainly way more fun than a bunch of beige.

Fun.

would love it as a preschool play-room interior or McDonald's house, but would not be able to stay inside for more then 30 min without getting bloody splitting headache.

forget to mention the art -pictures of the large-breasted women are witty, warm and comforting, loved all of them!

Very happy and fun, kind of reminds me of PeeWee's Playhouse (not in a dirty way, don't worry!). A bit too much for my own personal tastes on a day-to-day basis, but if you love color then you sure have nabbed it here!

Love it. Especially the exterior. Hooray for weirdness in Austin!

I love the color and I love the extra care given to the details. Anyone can paint a wall yellow-but it takes an imaginative person to add a large busted mural to the wall! I think the colors all flow very well together. They seem to all blend effortlessly from one to the next. I don't know how you are able to create using the entire rainbow-but you have, and you've done it very well!

While it wouldn't do for me, I think this is really cheerful. I admire such a commitment to colors! If it makes you happy, that's what it is about!

Wow, so it is true! Austin does have a lot of hippie wierdos! Nice colors, but very strange.

I love your colors. They all match and flow together well without being too matchy matchy. My favorite part is the exterior, but it's all fantastic!

Wow, Lois! Your house totally rocks. Well, it's ALWAYS rocked, but now it's an earthquake! Very inspiring....

This is for sure full of color. I think it would work great for a day care. ; ). I personally could not take all that fun every single day. But hey, it would be a great place to go for a happy fix.

Obviously Lois doesn't see the world in black or white - or gray! Her infusion of colors somehow works in a wonderfully whimsical way. She has a unique and artsy style that definitely comes from within. I loved it and vote her as my #1 favorite.

If this contest is about color - I think Lois nailed it. Her choice of bold colors that work well together does give an aura of energy & fun. Nice work!

while i love the outside, i lack the sense of humor to appreciate what's going on inside. it's almost like you're not in control, but the colors took control of you. good luck in the competition, i'm sure it'll go well in the anti-white kingdom.

I have looked at a lot of entries over the last couple of weeks and I must say that Lois is the one who is REALLY using color. She doesn't just have a wall that has some colored paint on it, or some colorful nick-nacks to spice up a white or beige room. No. She uses color! Color is this woman's passion. This entry deserves, no, commands the winning spot here. This contest is about color. I love the way her choices blend together. She has used color well both inside and out. What a bright place to live. Looks like a fun place to be. What a great bathroom too! I'm thinking that Lois is a very colorful person to be around too. Well done!

I've driven by this house and it is truly stunning and fun. I think that Lois has such a great eye for unique touches-everything from the shape and flow of the structure to the intricate stone mosaic mermaid on the gate. The inside looks just as lively! Kudos to Lois for sharing her home and submitting a great entry into this contest!

Honey, you keep it as weird as you want it, it works for me. I live in Michigan, these colors would make me wake up in the a.m. during the winter but would totally piss of my neighbors, cool!
