What inspired you to use color? I’m incredibly inspired by color, as it truly adds personality and character to your home. I love a modern look, with a touch of warmth and a very cool edge. Lime green, bright orange, and silver accents were something I really wanted to incorporate to my main room, as I find it to be very fresh and unique. I toned it down with a brown, and cream base – But didn’t shy away from making a bold statement with a lime green accent wall. For the bedroom, I wanted a spa like feel with brown, teal and cream accents and a similar color palette, but more modern edge in the den with black & white accents, and photos. Color is the best expression– Your home is a solid reflection of yourself. Thank you for the consideration!! It really has been fun!
Color Tip: My main color tip is to be BOLD! Don't be afraid to experiment with color choices, but remember to use them sparingly as accents and compliment them with other neutral or base colors. When decorating our home, I carried color swatches (from my local home improvement store) in my purse - It gives you a great visual while shopping for furniture or accessories, and sometimes colors you'd never thought would work together - do! I also started a “theme box” – Cutting out pictures of furniture, colors combinations, textures, and accessories I loved. Once we were ready to start decorating your new (first!) home, I was able to start pulling from all my different inspirations
Colors Used: Lime Green, Brown, White, Orange, Silver Accents (main room) Brown, Teal, Cream (bedroom) Brown, Black, Teal, Silver (den)
Fall Colors Introduction -------------------------------
Welcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...
1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide
The 40 best, completed entries will be posted on a daily basis for three weeks. You can view them all at anytime via our new, improved contest pages under ALL ENTRIES. During this time your comments are VERY IMPORTANT as our six judges will be choosing 16 finalists from each region based on comments and their own colorful opinion.
2. Voting Phase - you vote till you drop
Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.
Best, Maxwell

Looks like a nice model home you show when selling but don't live in. I like the blue wall color in the bedroom.

the blue in the office is really nice. my only thing is that it kind of looks like you just moved in, you know? i think that's why people are saying "model home". add more of yourself & it'll be perfect.

It does look like a sparsely furnished model home. There is no sense of who lives in this home, your personality, interests, preferences. It is not very colorful either..just a few accent walls. I'm sure it will be a great house when more personal items start working their way in :)

Has a great minimalist look, but so minimal that it looks staged and unlivable! I need to live in a land where I can have a book on my nightstand or paperwork on my desk!
