What inspired you to use color? Color makes home so much more fun. I have always wanted to use bold colors but never had the chance until now. My main inspiration is my 50's spring loaded 3 cone lamp.
Color Tip: Get samples and try them on the walls. You can always paint over it!
Colors Used: Yellow and green are Behr paint colors (can't remember name) The turquoise was a score in the OOPS pile.
Fall Colors Introduction -------------------------------
Welcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...
1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide
The 40 best, completed entries will be posted on a daily basis for three weeks. You can view them all at anytime via our new, improved contest pages under ALL ENTRIES. During this time your comments are VERY IMPORTANT as our six judges will be choosing 16 finalists from each region based on comments and their own colorful opinion.
2. Voting Phase - you vote till you drop
Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.
Best, Maxwell

I love green walls but they're a little tricky to pull off. This shade is not for me but it's very possible it's not being interpreted correctly on my monitor. I know we're just supposed to be judging the colors but this looks a little too post dorm room.

I applaud the bold use of color, but I do not care for this. I don't know if it is the color combination or that there is a lot of color (walls, trim, curtains, rugs, chairs, lamps, pet furniture) going on. I tend to prefer a more focused approach - a bold wall or a few bright pops.

The structure has such so much going for it -- could be stunning. But, the decor choices are a miss.

This looks great what a way to use all the space. Love the colors makes it look really big, too. Nice job.

I love this design!!!!! The colors are cheerful and inspiring. I find the green walls particularly appealing, so much so I am considering an accent wall of the same color in my New York City studio. They definitely have my vote!

You have managed to make a very small space appear larger, open and bright. Great use of color (having grown up in the 50's I vividly remember my grandmothers apartment and it also used color to insipre a feeling of greater space). Your apartment has a warm, cozy feel to it as well, very inviting to come and sit for a while, have a cup of coffee and chat. Great job, thumbs up for this 50's inspired apartment.

The green/pink is a little jarring - one of the colors (I vote green) should be a little softer so they don't fight. And pull some of the clutter back to let the colors speak for themselves. Right now they're getting lost amidst all the stuff.

I love your style - its a real home with a real person living in it. AND - I love the decor!

I think there is too much going on in these rooms and agree with the 'post dorm' comment above. The colors do seem to coordinate but the organization of the room is off. Just matching colors throughout a room doesn't necessarily make a good design concept.
