A New Look at Slipcovers

alta-061508-slipcover01.jpgWe spent this past weekend in Malibu where slipcovers, friendly to wet bottoms and sandy feet alike, are an integral part of a beach casual decorating style that demands ease and easy care. This living room, from one of our favorite homes on the Dwell on Design Westside Home Tours, shows how to employ the slipcovered look in a modern way...

atla-061508-slipcover02.jpgFashioned from an antique tablecloth and linen tape, it is sleek and clean and helps this antique settee fit in easily among the more contemporary pieces. If you have a piece that needs reupholstering, consider this as a temporary (or permanent) option that's surprisingly fresh.

I'm pretty lukewarm on the slip cover...But, does anyone recognize who makes that low storage piece in the top picture.

Thanks in advance!

I just had two big chairs and an ottoman slipcovered in white denim. The fabric cost me $60 on ebay and the slipcover maker charged me $240 for the job. Very pleased and have a great beachy look for summer.

I am a big fan of using things until you cannot live with them anymore. I am a first home owner so I can't afford a new couch just yet. So my two old matching ones will do until I can. Slipcovers have saved me from a life living with faded, in places torn (sun damage) and fraying couches. Thank you slip covers.

I love this idea - so cool. Though I'm not sure I'm crafty enough to do it myself.

I like this - especially how it shows off the wood frame of the settee.
Of course it wouldn't look so hot on a fully-upholstered sofa...

I really like how clean and simple the space is. Does anyone know what kind of "media stand" that is holding the TV?
