atla021508-savon01.jpgWhere do you go when you need a vintage stove rebuilt, re-porcelined and rechromed? Or if you want an era specific replacement for the kitchen from O'Keefe & Merritt or Wedgewood? SAVON Appliance in Burbank specializes in fully restored, classic gas stoves from the 1940's and 1950's, a retro decor lover's dream resource...

atla021508-savon02.jpgSAVON Appliance was started by Emmett Julian in the early 1980's, and has remained a family operated Burbank business (his sister Marsha now owns the business, while his Lisa operate a second location in Reseda) of specific interest for those looking for fully restored and operational kitchen appliances from bygone eras.

SAVON Appliance operates at both a showroom for sales and also a restoration service center, and is one of the largest custom appliance porcelin and enamel resurfacers in the United States, with a commercial paint booth where any appliance can be repainted to match a specific desired colour. How can you not like a business that helped the former King of Pop restore his Mickey Mouse fridge?

I wish I could have that turquoise or baby pink stove in my kitchen - it would look so amazing!

It looks like dollhouse furniture. Maybe I'm way too young, but it's hard to believe they actually work, and aren't just pretty, like the coke memorabilia my Grandmother's friend collects.

My friend in Pasadena has one of these (in green) in his apartment! I totally geeked out over it while he muttered, "I don't think we've once used our oven..."

On his version the left compartment is a broiler, while the right one is the oven. Pretty handy, since ovens are often unnecessarily large. And broilers are underrated.

We used to have one. They work great, but if you're not a stay at home housewife with nothing better to do than srub the stove all day you will be out of luck. They are a bitch to clean!
