New from Williams- Sonoma, comes this truly special, super sexy SXC Espresso Machine by Elektra ($1,999).
The hard facts are: A 67.6-oz. brass water boiler paired with a powerful pump for "superior espresso quality". Also, a hot water level glass and pressure gauge to monitor boiling so that correct water pressure is reached for brewing.
The machine comes with two filters (1 cup and 2 cups), doser spoon and coffee press, and the polished-chrome body is crowned by Elektra’s signature brass eagle. Stunning.

Beautiful, yes. A WS sales associate told me, however, that youre paying for a $600 machine in a $2000 shell. He said he uses the nepresso machine every morning for his cappuccino.
That is sooooo out of Bobos in Paradise... scrutinizing the boiling water to make sure it's the *perfect* temperature...
I love my Nespresso C190. It understands that I cannot operate heavy machinery before my second cup of coffee.
Ah. Chrome exuberance for prople with too much disposable income.
The Elektra is a SERIOUS barista tool. Sure, you're paying for a bird on top, you're also paying for a product that's stood the test of time from a famous manufacturer-that's not an accident either. Nespresso isn't really an apt comparison. That'd be like comparing an old Ferrari with a new Honda that makes all your driving decisions for you. One isn't better than the other, they're just different. However, I'd bet my money that the Elektra will be working LONG after Nespresso pod machines wind up in a landfill or at the local thrift store. The fit, finish, everything on that machine oozes quality. Nope I don't work for any espresso machine manufacturer, but I've used many machines & know a good machine when I see one:)
