francisfrancis! X1 Espresso Machine

Giddyup. We're a sucker for bright kitchen appliances that look wee bit retro. We were moseying through a kitchen supply store this past weekend and fell deeply in love with this X1 Espresso Machine by francisfrancis!. One part is the great selection of colors (fire engine red, sunny yellow, peacock turquoise!), and the second part is that it makes a pretty fine espresso.

We went looking for this espresso machine online for a deal (man, these aren't cheap!), and we managed to find a small clearance over at Unica for the older models ($720).

Anyone else want to recommend a decent espresso machine?

Watch on eBay. Occasionally you'll find one that someone just doesn't know what to do with....

I bought my X1 (the electric green one!) for about $350--it had been used maybe a half-dozen times. I couldn't believe it...

We love our Breville-- it makes espresso with caramelly crema-- consistently-- and its steam wand works beautifully.

I'm pretty darned picky too, having pulled shots for various coffee places in the Bay Area for 8 years...
