Building on Nature. There's a fantastic article about San Diego architect Kendrick Bangs Kellogg in the North County Times. Kellogg's work is quite prevalent throughout the San Diego area. He was influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, believing that structures should "harmonize with its site and surroundings" and became a champion of the "organic architecture" movement.
He's also renown for being the architect of choice for the Chart House chain of restaurants in the early 60's, one of which still stands in Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage today (which is now Haleiwa Joes restaurant). Kellogg is currently 72 and continues to work and design. Read the entire article here and check out some of his amazing work at his website.

I think Kellogg might share a similar view now. Interesting to note that the article mentions that Kellogg now prefers to work with more concrete and less wood.

One of my favorite homes of his is the High Desert Home in Joshua Tree. It looks like prehistoric dinosaur bones. If you're ever out that way, it's worth driving up to peek through the gate.
