We've got an unusual architectural-art destination on our list of local places to visit/things to do. This one is down over at the Los Angeles Arboretum, where environmental artist Patrick Dougherty has erected a multi-room house made entirely of twigs and branches from the Atascadero willow, normally used for furniture manufacturing. Curious about how it was built? Check out the photo diary of one of the builders here.

I had the opportunity to participate in a Patrick Dougherty project in college and it was a really fun experience. I love his work and the way the art naturally weathers. If you have a chance to check out his work definitely take it.
For any Ohioans there used to be two Dougherty installations at the Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus. The last time I was there was early spring of '07 so they both may not be there anymore.
