Jesus Soto at MoLAA

Over the weekend, we were able to make a quick trip to MoLAA to see the Jesus Soto exhibition. MoLAA, (The Museum of Latin American Art) has been a hidden jem in Long Beach since 1996. It is the only museum in the western United states that exclusively features contemporary Latin American Art.

Currently they have an amazing exhibition on Jesus Raphael Soto, considered one of the founders of "Kinetic art", which also fits under the graphic "op art" movements of the 60's and 70's. Soto used parallel lines that "vibrate" when you walk by them, and play with your visual perception of foreground and background. MoLAA has done a great job of showcasing his work and it's also worth a trip just to see the permanent collections and modern sculpture garden.
