Kevin Rolly: Artist

Kevin Rolly is an LA based painter who uses a technique he calls "Oilgraphing": a hybrid between a photograph and an oil painting. His works are very cool, and have a definite sexy, Rock 'n' Roll aspect to them.

The dark and haunting images are hyper realistic (thanks to the photo) yet surreal and dreamlike (thanks to the oil).

Also interesting, Rolly has a series of “on sight performance” works, like "The Hunted" (above). These are paintings that were created before an audience.

You can see more of the artist's work below the fold, or HERE.

Just to be clear: these are literally large photographic prints with oil paints over top of them. He applies a full coat of paint to the entire photograph and then uses paper towels to reveal the picture underneath.
