Look! Michael Sowa Prints

112607_michaelsowa.jpgFilmhound. After stumbling back from a post-Thanksgiving dinner party, we found ourselves parked in front of the TV at 2 am and rejoicing when Amlie came on the IFC channel. While we thoroughly enjoyed this little French romantic comedy, we kept saying to ourselves, "Who did those surreal animal paintings in her bedroom? I kind of want one...!" Answer: Michael Sowa.

While his work may not be everyone's cup of tea, we would love to see one his prints hanging in a serious library or study, surrounded by leather furniture and dark wood built-ins.

If you like Michael Sowa's work, you can get a print over at AllPosters.com or pick up his coffee table book Sowa's Art: An Enchanted Bestiary.

Oh, wow... it's time for me to invest in a tinfoil hat.

I've never seen Amélie, but I love Michael Sowa's work, and I've been planning for years that when I renovated our library it would be Terribly Serious Looking in exactly the way you described... with elaborately framed Michael Sowa prints as the punchline.

And I thought I was so original. I hope no one I know reads this website...!

Yay! Thank you for posting this. Amelie is my most fave movie of all time and I always loved these prints but figured they were made for the movie.
