The Gallery: Cole Gerst / Option G

If you've been by The Grove lately, you might have noticed this billboard. It's by artist Cole Gerst and was comissioned by the Vans Sky Gallery. The Vans Sky Gallery, if you're unfamiliar, is an interesting concept, presented by Vans, the classic shoe maker, where they feature original artwork on a prominent billboard in the city. (More info on the Vans Sky Gallery here.) Cole Gerst is the latest artist to be featured. (I really want one of these posters being plastered around!)

You may already be familiar with his work. Based in Los Angeles, his design company, Option-G, produces concert posters, apparel, and illustrations, and he also has two comics in the LA Weekly, "La La land" and "The Good City Life."

A large amount of show posters they've produced are available for purchase via their webstore. If you're looking for some affordable artwork for your home, definitely check it out. Most of the prints average at around $15! Some of his newest prints run a little higher, but still reasonable. We love this new Deer Series! ($25 each 9" x 12" print)

Also, look out for a cartoon called "Young Yeti" coming soon to the Sundance Channel. You can find out more about Cole's work and Option-G (as well as purchase prints) here and his blog.
