Tucked away in the middle of the 798 Art District in Beijing we found a little bit of home. Seemingly out of place, Mooi is filled with mid century finds culled from European flea markets by owner Shannon Loo.

When we stumbled upon the store, Shannon was in the middle of refinishing some pieces behind the shop and we instantly understood how dedicated she is to bringing mid century style to Asia. The shop isn't big but it's chock full of choice pieces. A bit surprised to see so much familiar furniture so far from home we asked if the style was very popular among the Chinese. Shannon laughed and let us know that she was hoping it would catch on since only expats and artists were currently buying anything. Mooi's website lists most of the furniture they carry between their Taiwan and Beijing stores, and if you can read Mandarin check out Shannon's blog.
