Community Partnership for the Homeless Becomes Green Doors
Austin

052209greendoors-01.jpg We've covered projects of Austin's Community Partnership for the Homeless before, as well as other activities and organizations in the affordable housing movement here in Austin. They've recently changed their name and have a new event coming up in need of volunteers. More after the jump!

052209greendoors-02.jpg The Community Partnership for the Homeless, an organization that works toward providing education and affordable housing to the homeless in Austin, has recently changed their name to Green Doors. The need for a shorter name and a name that's received more positively are a couple of the reasons behind the change. Green Doors continues the mission of preventing and trying to end homelessness and poverty in Austin by creating affordable, safe and quality housing as well as providing residents with access to support.

You can help kickoff the new name and new website of Green Doors by participating in their volunteer event on May 27th from 8am to 6pm. Volunteers will be hitting popular Austin intersections as "panhandlers" holding signs directing residents to the new website. More information can be found at the Real Community Austin website. For more information on what they do and why they changed their name, visit the Green Doors website.
