091708fannys-04.jpg Their showroom may not be the biggest, but Fanny’s selection of fabrics is still impressive, boasting great Dupione silk solids and retro and modern patterned upholstery fabrics. If they don’t have a fabric you’re looking for in stock, they have lots of inspiring swatch books to look through to find your perfect textile match.

091708fannys-03.jpg Other sewing needs like pillow forms, sewing threads and trim are stocked for any of your crafting projects and friendly and helpful salespeople are on staff to answer any questions you may have or help you figure out a project you’re working on. The small space is neat and organized to help you find everything easily. Frankly, we’re a sucker for craft supplies arranged by color.

091708fannys-02.jpg You’re not going to find as big of a selection of fabric here as you would a larger chain store, but Fanny’s stocks great choices and the customer service is excellent.

Damn, I wish I had known about this a couple of weeks ago. Maybe for the next move.

GREAT post! It's true, Fanny's rocks!! I've always found things here I can't find in other place, the prices usually are reasonable and the customer service is excellent. My only word of caution ... call before you go. I've gone several times during their stated hours and it's been closed. Bummer.

Oops! I forgot to mention a couple other options I adore besides Fanny's.

Interior Fabrics on Anderson Lane and Burnet Road is great too and I've been really impressed with the prices.

If you're looking for the mack daddy of all fabric stores and have an entire day to spend immersed in incredible fabrics, design elements, amazing furniture and overall heavenly goodness, do yourself a favor and take a trip to downtown Houston's "High Fashion Home" on Travis street: http://www.highfashionhome.com/. The prices can be steep but picture if you will four floors of wall to wall bolts of interior fabrics. One word: YUM.

Note to self: time to visit cousin in Houston and stop in Austin on the way.....

I've been trying to find fabric to cover the cushions on a wooden-frame couch for AGES. Nothing is right. It's going to take a miracle. Or maybe four floors of fabric.
