We love this idea for affordable wall art (and even love the idea of being able to repurpose old fabric scraps to do so!) and so we wanted to share the gorgeous photos we found in a post on the blog Desire to Inspire. A curated collection of Flickr photos of embroidery hoop wall art, we're inspired to try this in our own space!
What do you think about using embroidery hoops for wall art? Have you tried this in your own space? Have you used a similar idea but with a new or different material? Share your ideas!

I have three recovered bulletin boards in my apartments - 1 to store my jewelry, 1 as a recipe holder and 1 as a backing for a picture frame. I really like the embroidery hoop to add in a new shape of decoration, instead of all squares everywhere.

I keep meaning to buy some hoops so I can try this out. I love the look of the Amy Butler fabric in the pictures above, I think this could work great with any interesting and bold print. I don't know if I would use more than one or two though, I already have a pretty wild and dense collection of art and random plates up on my walls.

I was thinking of using several of the inner hoops in different sizes as wall art in a cool configuration, something mod, but really simply and airy. I wasn't going to use the outer hoop with the metal parts. The hoops could be painted before hanging them on the wall. But I prefer the naked wood. It hadn't occurred to me to stretch fabric between the hoops. Nice idea too.

I did this years ago as a way to display my Mom's 70's-era collection of feminist, pro-ERA buttons. I used plain ivory fabric and left extra around the edges (i.e. sticking out of the hoops). It still looks hangs in her entry-way and looks great.
