Inspiration: Verokolt Furniture and Design
Austin

012809verokolt-01.jpg Way back in early January, Maxwell posted a (somewhat controversial) predictions list for 2009. Whatever your opinion is of what's in or out, we personally loved the idea of Mid-Century Modern furniture with fun fabrics being in, and have had our eyes peeled for new inspiration ever since. We found some in the gorgeous furniture and interior design of Veronica Koltuniak. More after the jump!

012809verokolt-02.jpg Veronica Koltuniak first got her start in the design world in Los Angeles doing set design, eventually working for clients in Hollywood like Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Jeff Goldblum, and Matthew Perry. She lives in Austin now (yay for Austin!) and continues to work on gorgeous interiors, as well her revamped vintage furniture finds. We loved her take on reupholstering furniture, and enjoyed the off-beat and surprising fabric choices paired with the vintage frames. Each furniture piece Veronica makes is one-of-a-kind and "designed to make beige nervous".

Austin residents will get the chance to see some of Veronica's work in person, along with two other local artists working on sustainable art (MINIMIS and Denise Prince), on Friday, January 30th at Big Red Sun.

What is the diaper pin for on the first chair?

It's a kilt pin (on plaid fabric). Can't say I like that look, though--looks like a bunch of leftover cushions slapped together on a chair.

that assortment of chairs is super fugly! My grandma had that one with the yellow legs and it was super uncomfortable (curves in all the wrong places). I don't like the fabrics at all.

I have to agree with everyone, not crazy about any of the fabrics used on the chairs.
