apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Look: A Camouflaged House!
Austin

101508camo-01.jpg We've certainly seen some bold colors and patterns on houses in the past here on Apartment Therapy, but we were pretty shocked when we saw this home's paint design...

101508camo-02.jpg We didn't know what to think when we saw this house's unique paint job! It didn't quite blend into the surrounding like its inspiration might; in fact this camouflage pattern actually caught our attentions more! It appears that this home's paint job resembles the Universal Camouflage Pattern that is currently in use in United States' Army combat uniforms. We've certainly never seen anything like this before and just had to see what Apartment Therapy readers thought!

101508camo-03.jpg What do you think of this house's paint job? Have you ever seen anything like it? Let us know!

If they are happy with it then I think it's great, but I wouldn't want to have to look at it everyday if they were my neighbor. I hope they plan to paint it back before they try to sell it, or it might take awhile.

I'd comment, but frankly I can't see what you are talking about.

I think it would be better suited to a smaller structure, like a shed.

I wonder if this is meant to follow the dappled pattern of those trees during a certain time of year.

Actually it would be computer pixel camo which is the camo they are using on military uniforms now.

hdtex - I beat you to it :)

I'd like to see a far away picture of it to see if it actually is camouflaged, lol.

Interesting! With the right landscaping this could be a unique and not at all unattractive feature.

this could look really nice on one wall of an urban loft-style building... an interesting nod to nature (in an odd, ironic way... a la: rigo23)... but engulfing a rancher? not as nice...

That house says "PTSD" to me. As in, someone needs treatment for it.

And, please, for the love of dog, don't let this picture cross state lines into Mississippi, or I'll be surrounded by freakin' Mossy Oak houses in no time.

Love it -- It is so much better that all the boring beige, white and gray houses that are in most neighborhoods. At least it has personality.

You gotta hand it to them for coming up with something unique and eye catching. If I were driving by, it would certainly catch my eye whether I like it or not.

I agree that it has personality and someone has definitely put in time and energy into that. I would love to see what they have done with the inside of this home..

very creative, good job!

I can't say it looks good, because it doesn't, but it sure is original... and I like that. ;)

Ooooohhh myyyyyy. It gives me heart palpitations. And I feel once you step over the threshold, all of those terrible blues probably continue to assault you... most likely beginning with navy blue wall to wall carpet.

::Shudder::

Though it certainly is unique!

I can't believe, I'm saying this, yet I like it. I'm not looking at it as camo. I'm looking at the overall pattern of colors and they way the darkest blue pops and moves around the un interesting house. It does add interest to an otherwise dull looking dwelling. I could see this technique developed in a more sophisticated pattern. Something to think about. No?

There is a camo-painted house in Central Ohio. You can find it here on flickr:
