Look!: Drawer Steps!
Austin

102708stairs-01.jpg We’ve all seen step bookcases be gorgeous aesthetic and storage additions to a room, but what if the things you need storing aren’t good-looking enough to see all the time? We found inspiration for a possible do-it-yourself storage project in an unexpected place. More after the jump…

102708stairs-02.jpg Although we found these stairs with drawers in the steps next to a children’s bunk bed, we loved the simple premise of the idea. Instead of building a completely open bookshelf with a step theme, why not incorporate some drawers in your bookshelf, to hide things you need but don’t want to see. This idea could work in any space that needed extra storage, and of course you could always use this idea from its origin: a kid’s room!102708stairs-03.jpg What do you think?

I've saw a bed with drawer steps in Brooklyn, and it was more stylish.

My daughter's best friend has this exact bed. It's very sturdy and well made.

Any child anything like me would repeatedly "forget" to push in those drawers properly and repeatedly trip on them and injure herself.

Great storage idea, but it would be much safer if the drawers opened to the side. The problem I see is when bottom-bunk child gets something out of a drawer but forgets to close it, then top-bunk child comes crashing down the steps because he or she stepped into a drawer instead of onto a stair.
