Look: Modern Mailboxes
Austin

091708mailbox-01.jpg If you've managed to find that modern home of your dreams, chances are you are a connoisseur of clean lines and smart details. You may have even invested in a good-looking modern fence for your property, too. You’ll want to complete your modern picture with a gorgeous modern mailbox! More after the jump!

091708mailbox-02.jpg Created with an amazing architectural presence, these mailboxes receive your letters in style. Made mostly of concrete bases and stainless steel boxes, local Austin craftsman Dusty Whipple can customize them to your home. That means he can make them the perfect size and shape to compliment the stunning shapes of your own house. It also means that if you haven't quite secured your perfect modern home or your tastes are more traditional, he can accomodate with design! Mailbox flags and address numbers can be added using colors that pop and coordinate with your color palette. Perhaps best of all, once Dusty custom installs your mailbox for you, it’s not going anywhere. These gorgeous modern investments can withstand the weather, backing up vehicles—you name it. And, since every piece is different, prices are based on each individual project to fit in with any budget.

Do you think it's important to have a good-looking mail box? Do you have a gorgeous mailbox you've found and want to share a great resource? Let us know!

Those are pretty cool...

...and when the neighbor backs his Suburban into it, he'll get something to remember too!

Doesn't the USPS require mailboxes to be certified or something like that? I've always wanted to make my own mailbox but was scared off due to this rule. Am I imagining things about the USPS?

If that doesn't work later, track back to FAQs and search the term mailbox.

Apparently (and I never knew this), you have to let the post office know you intend to erect a mailbox. It doesn't matter if you build it yourself or buy it from a store or artisan. The post has to be at a reasonable height, which is normal and courteous. It can't have advertisements on it. I don't know what in there that there is to be scared of, just contact the post office and build your mailbox.

Ohhh. That's good to know. It was probably the part about the "post office must approve all mailboxes" thing that threw me. I should've done the research myself. ha ha! Thanks again for the link.

can not really say I love it---looks hard and dated for a home today. Kind of has that mailbox in front of an outdoor movie theatre look to me, along a busy highway in a not so great part of town. :-)
