Look: The Amazing and Modern Designs of Minimis!
Austin

121908minimi-01.jpg A few months ago we had the pleasure of getting a personal look at many Austin homes during the annual Austin AIA Homes Tour. While we saw a lot of gorgeous houses, there was one in particular that featured interesting elements and really caught our eye. Imagine our delight when the local Austin company responsible for the home's most unique elements contacted us...

121908minimis-02.jpg The local Austin company MINIMIS takes its name from the Latin phrase "Minimis amplis est." For you non-Latin speaking folks out there, that's "less is more". With some really clever and show-stopping products like amazingly modern interior doors, LED exterior walkways and this incredibly sleek yet affordable countertop material, this company is poised to make a big impact on the Austin modern residential scene.

121908minimis-03.jpg While we were definitely stopped in our tracks by their countertop material (which is this thin, sleek, cheaper than granite yet super durable gorgeous looking thing), we really fell in love with their recycled file cabinet planters. Available in original steel color or with awesome locally-painted urban art, you can recycle old furniture and beautify your garden!

121908minimis-04.jpg What do you think about these products? Could you see yourself as the owner of an LED-lighted walkway or a recycled filing cabinet planter? Let us know!

they seem to have an excellent design sense, but then their website totally contradicts that.

I like the idea for the planter, might even use it myself but I don't like the price tag of $600 for a second hand filing cabinet $995 for local artist graffiti finish.
I also wonder if the local artist is limited to photoshop or do they actually spray the planter for your extra dollars?? Because that brick finish on the above example is great!
