The interior of the Irie Bean Coffee Bar features an expansive coffee bar, colorful accent cabinets, comfortable seating and varied wall décor. The real gem of this coffee shop, though, is the exterior space. A suspended canopy and fun furniture create intimate seating areas and a spaceship-like structure adds a bit of whimsy to the outdoor area.

Perched on top of a hill off of South Congress (located in a suite of the Penn Field Business Center) Ruta Maya Coffee Shop’s interior space foregoes the usual elements of a coffee shop, namely the dark colors and cozy spaces, in favor of a wide open, warehouse feel with tall ceilings and exposed industrial ductwork.

A South Congress favorite, Jo’s on Congress doesn’t exactly have an interior space, so to speak. What it does have, however, is enough style to make up for the lack of walls. It also sports a surprising array of colorful chairs, locals and dogs.

Dominican Joe features a standard coffee shop palette of colors, but stands out in terms of floor level changes, seating arrangements and size (it’s an incredibly accommodating space).

1501 South First
Austin, Texas 78704

The interior of Bouldin creek is cozy and porch-like. Visitors to this shop get a variety of seating options, from the coffee bar to interior tables to a wealth of outdoor seating. Although space is a bit limited on busy days, it is still a colorful and interesting interior.

What do you think of these coffee shops? Have we left one of your favorite Southside coffee shops off this list? Have you ever taken inspiration for your home decor from a coffee shop interior?

The Green Muse on W. Oltorf (near S. 1st) has a fabulous interior...lots of details and great patio, too.

This one's on the eastside, but I adore Clementine's on Manor Rd. The decor is sweet, colorful and comfortable, without feeling overly hip. It feels like (and probably is) someone's small home converted to a coffee bar. The furniture is arranged conversationally, so you almost feel like you're in a (very stylish) friend's living room. Who just happens to make amazing coffee.

Flipnotics on Barton Springs Rd, just west of Lamar, great outdoor space.

Last night I popped in SummerMoon (wood roasters), on S. 1st near Alpine. I loved the iced coffee, but it's a shame they're stuck in that plaza.
