Here's Kristen serving up some French Style. Tell us what you think!
French company Bleu Nature combs beaches every year for pieces of driftwood to use in the production of their furniture, lighting, and accessories. In addition to driftwood, which they say needs no further processing after they collect it because the water has frozen it in time forever, they also use petrified wood, skins, pebbles, leather, lacquered wood, and lacquered metal. Since nature has fashioned each piece of driftwood over time, they explain, every item produced is unique in both form and fashion.
In the United States, Bleu Nature pieces are, sadly, only available at stores in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Florida. If you're like us and are nowhere near any of the stores, you can ooh and ahh at their summer designs by going to their website.
And here's an idea if you see something you've gotta have, suggested by AT user DesignHole when a lamp from Bleu Nature was highlighted here last October: "If you want to buy something that's only 'to the trade' why not call a designer (like me!) and ask them to get you a price? Usually, if all they have to do is order it, they'll give you a deal on the price. So you both win. Couldn't hurt to try."
Clockwise, from top left: Lustre ´Pifuk´: Lacquered metal base and driftwood, cotton lampshade; Tablette ´Qijuk´: Tablette ´Qijuk´: Lacquered metal and driftwood; tables basses ´Ituk´: Driftwood and lacquered metal reversible top. Images from Bleu Nature's website.

That broad, shallow cynlindrical shade on the pendant lamp is exactly what I'm looking for in my dining room.... sans driftwood. : ) Any suggestions where I can find one? Haven't had any luck finding something large and flat like this. Budget-friendly is helpful, and I'd be fine if it were just a shade... I'll improvize the fixture (Or die trying!)

I have awesome lamp that is about 4 feet long and 8 inches tall with driftwood, rusted steel, and a brown linen shade from them. The store that was repping them said they are a huge pain to work with from a retailer's point of view and this was the last piece they had and were not ordering again. One problem was that they only would ship a container worth of merchandise rather than a one-off lamp. This was a challenge for a store carrying multiple lighting lines.

Oh geez...I'm all for recycling and not being wasteful but this is getting a wee bit ridiculous.

agree with snugglitas about the ridiculousness factor. these would be very very cool if someone you knew made it with stuff they picked up from a walk in the woods. but when it's someone's house where they picked it up from a walk through some swank boutique, it's just really trying too hard.

It reminds me of the white wood pieces on Mermaid Hut...
