While photographing the gray, modern home we posted about earlier today, we couldn't help but notice the car parked in front: it was gray just like the house! We can't say whether these homeowners intentionally tried to match their car's color to their home's color, but it reminded us of another instance we've seen in Austin...
We remembered Regina and Andy Rihn's affordable modern Austin home matched the color of their classic car, too. It got us thinking, if you could choose to match your color to your car (perfect scenario being your home needing a repainting and you needing a new car at the same time, of course), would you?

I think matching the colour of your car to your house is a little much. However, I think the type of car one has is most important. For example, Volvo has a very modern and intelligent design and thus I think that may match with a modern house. Also, old cars show a lot of character I believe, as they aren't as worry-free as a new car and shows the owner has a passion for such pleasures. I never understand it when someone clearly has loads of style but is driving around in a ford taurus (no offense to taurus owners - i just don't get you).

My car and apartment are both modest in size, but I don't have plans to paint our place silver to match. Both need a cleaning though!

My car doesn't match my home (apart from both of them being on the smallish side), but it does match my lipstick and nail polish! What can I say, I like red.

While living in my first house, I had a silver pickup truck and an aged white sedan -- that house was pink. In this house, I've had a purplish-pink sports car (which I sold) and a green truck -- this house is red brick with a gray addition. So no color coordination.

our 1963 VW bug is parked in the garage of our 1963 eichler... ironically, it's a coincidence as we had the car before the house.

I think the summit of sophistication is when your hair colour matches your car AND your house.
(In case you're wondering, I'm not personally concerned, but just wanted to mention this)

"I think the summit of sophistication is when your hair colour matches your car AND your house."
Or when your car matches the outfit you're wearing - like in "High Anxiety" where Mel Brooks meets Madelline Kahn in Golden Gate Park wearing a jumpsuit covered in YSL logos - after driving up in a Cadillac Seville that's completely covered with the matching logos.

My blue car matches my front door and shutters. However, if I bought a new car I wouldn't buy a blue car or if I painted my shutters (and they're vinyl, so I'll never do it) - I wouldn't go blue..
