0715608ADOE04.jpgWalking into this store is actually breath taking. At A Day On Earth there is so much to see, so many textures to feel and such lovely and helpful staff make your shopping experience even more enjoyable. The roof is draped in vintage lighting - the stores signature. The furniture is all unique and high in quality, the objects delicately made and there is a delightful scattering of scientific equipment throughout...

The owner is artist David Bromley. Using buyers sourcing objects from all around the world they end up with a wide and eclectic range of original bits and pieces which really will add a unique flare to any home. Out of the whole store, the only thing I had ever come across before was one Eames Moulded Plywood Lounge Chair- how refreshing!

The main part of the store is filled with everything described above. As you walk towards the back of the store there are a couple of rooms off to the side. In here you will find a range of children’s clothes made by the owner’s wife Tori Dixon-Whittle. They are exceptional items; each of them handcrafted from superior quality materials and are so stylish I wished they made them in my size.

There is also a basement [if you ask nicely they might let you into], mostly filled with already sold items but still laid out as carefully as the main shop floor. As you wander around listening to the creaking floor boards of people above it feels like someone has shared a special secret with you that they knew you’d enjoy.

Not that I'd ever make it to Australia ... but the shop is closing down! How very sad ...

It looked like a lot of interesting stuff... nothing I'd miss though. It was easy to see everything. Stores like that usually crowd everything together and make you lap the store over and over again so you wouldn't miss anything.

Only the Brisbane store is closing down. They still have 2 stores open in Prahran and Daylesford.

I know we're all meant to be using energy savers, but I want one of those oversized low wattage light bulbs.

I want one of those diving helmets! Too bad they don't have an online shop.
