Before & After: 1940’s Rocker Chair
Perth

092908rocker01.jpgThe weekend is so close and all this Spring weather we’re having in Australia is making us feel alive again after shivering through Winter. Di over at The Cut Cloth has added to our motivation to start more projects around the house thanks to this amazing before and after of a 1940’s rocker chair. We can see the before above is scaring you so jump below to see the amazing after…

092908rocker02.jpgThat’s certainly a job well done! You can read the full instructions on how Di did this at The Cut Cloth website.

What have your experience with DIY reupholstering been? Something you can do or is it better left to the professionals?

i am slogging through a reupholstery project on two couches at the moment: both craigslist finds, both $50; one is an amazing victorian settee (complete with nasty 1880s horsehair insides) and the other one is a funky three piece french provincial sectional. don't quote me yet, because i haven't finished, but reupholstery is some of the most (tiring, yet) satisfying diy work i've ever done.

Awesome, but it would have been more awesome if the fabric matched at the seams.

This is a nice inspiration. My boyfriend has an upholstered chair with similar lines that was his grandmother's....I don't particularly love the fabric and it is super worn out...a re-upholstering might make it work better...thanks for the ideas!

i would have left the chair as is. the 'after' is great - but the before had so much character.
