apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Before & After: A Simple Chair Makeover
Brisbane

061209chair01.jpgWe see a lot of fantastic before and afters on Apartment Therapy. Most are amazing, others are amazingly expensive, some are just simple and that’s why they are inspiring. See below to see what became of this $4 chair...

061209chair02.jpgKristina simply painted the chair white and added some red stripes. Her intention was to make this chair more masculine as its for her son’s bedroom. We think Kristina did a great job– a cheap, simple, good looking DIY project that has inspired us to tick off some of those simple projects that we have been putting off. Have you got any DIY plans for this weekend?

Is that not the cutest?

I see the most creative things here on AT. The outdoor segments this summer have blown me away.

I'm going to cover a seat cushion for my sister's newly decorated bedroom.

Super cute, but I don't think I'd call it masculine....

Ditto what Cassis said. The chair is cute but looks like a peppermint patty.

Great Job! Did you find it tricky to paint the chair legs etc with all those curves? Or did you spray paint? I love it!

Nicely done. Looks like you took the time to do the prep work which makes a world of difference when using a high gloss paint. Very sweet.

Cute, yes. Masculine? -- only relative to the pink version. But maybe it depends on the room it's in. (If asked to make it masculine, I'd have opted for black paint and maybe a leather seat, or a dark color like nevy blue...)
