Here in Australia we’re quickly moving into Summer and for our friends in the Northern Hemisphere, you’ll be heading towards Winter. More and more we’re waking up all hot and bothered in our Winter bedding, so it’s time to head for the linen closet. For us, a change of season means a change in bedding– do you change your sleeping arrangements to suit the season?
During chilly, rainy Winter nights we like to be snug as a bug in our bed. This means an electric blanket to warm up the bed before we get in it, sheets [complete with hospital corners], a down doona/duvet and our treasured mohair throw on top.
Now that we’re heading into Summer, it’s off with the electric blanket, doona/duvet and mohair throw and on with the summer blanket.
Do you make a change in bedding for the seasons? If so, what changes do you make?

We have a summer duvet and a winter one. Here it's just duvet duvet cover for the bed, so our bed changes its look every week as we change our "sheets". Last night we switched to our winter duvet, and soon we'll stop using our "summer duvet covers". The winter duvet is just thicker and warmer. The difference between winter and summer duvet covers is all about the colours. Dark brown, orange, etc (rich colours) for winter, white, yellow, light green for summer.

I just switched my colors around... bright, cheery yellow for spring and summer, rich reds and purples and greens for winter!

I just switched my bed last week.
I have two different duvet covers - a white one with a green leaf pattern for spring/summer and a navy one with a green pattern as well as a second coordinating blanket for fall/winter. I also use jersey or flannel sheets vs. normal cotton in the winter too. I switch out the decorative pillows too and change the candles in the room to darker colors.
I also switch the pillows on my couch for the seasons too.

We switch things around, living in Massachusetts in the US we HAVE to. Flannel sheets, more blankets. Colors are secondary to warmth.

It's our second winter in the new house in NJ. We used modal sheets in summer and have flannel sheets now. We did not buy a comforter yet, still sleeping under a light blanket. We'll see, if we need one.

We do switch colors, but probably not the way most people do... In the summer, it's just sheets. Sometimes I have a throw to cover my feet. The sheets are mostly cool, soothing colors, beige or olive or light blue with true whites.
We've just started using blankets in my part of the world. My grandmother gave me a quilt that's mostly cream with touches of pink, and it really makes the room feel warmer in the winter, but not darker. (And I have pink orchids and xmas cactus, which bloom in winter.)

Funny timing. I stayed at a friend's house last night and we remade the bed for winter, as his house is freezing in the winter. He doesn't have a lot of blankets, so we threw a whole (no-hair) cowhide over the bed. We woke up all toasty and warm this morning. It's like sleeping in a leather jacket.
And yes, probably a full 99% of everyone here thinks this is really weird, but a bed covered in black leather really suits him.

Winter - flannel sheets, a blanket, a quilt, and a dark green corduroy coverlet.
Summer - regular cotton sheets, a blanket, white cotton bedspread.
If I really had things together, I would have a wool blanket for winter, but I use the same cotton one yearround.

Flannel sheets & electric blanket for winter. Cotton sheets for summer. Same comforters year-round.

Not really - I tend to stick with the same sorts of things year-round. I have a good-quality wool-filled doona that's got fantastic insulation, so it's toasty warm in winter (and I'll use the flat sheet to layer and add warmth when it's really cold) and light enough to use in summer. The only time I can't use it is those hot, sticky mid-summer nights, when I just use the sheet.
Plus, my bedding is yellow, and I love yellow year-round ^_^

Frankly, during the summer I only use sheets. The winter is when the duvet and wool blankets come out. It doesn't get miserably cold here, but cold enough. The summer would be dreadful with blankets.

I just switch the duvet cover every few months. I really like the 'winter' look shown here.
