Double Inspiration: Rugs + Interiors
Australia

ataus308-allrugs.jpgWe went through a rather painful search for a nice rug recently. Our budget was on the itsy bitsy side but what annoyed us even more than Ikea’s under whelming cheaper options, was a lack of interesting rugs to imagine spending our dream budget on. Well that problem is now solved, if we won the lottery tomorrow we know exactly which rug to buy – or at least which three to "um" and "ah" over...

ataus308-allrugs2.jpgMelbourne based hand bag designer Nicola Cerini has recently ventured out into rugs, with some beautiful results. Her designs are inspired by patterns from nature and her extensive travels. Another bonus is that they do international orders so our stateside AT buddies can enjoy them too. We were also quite taken by the stylish, laid back interiors the rugs were photographed in. Double inspiration!

Those are amazing, but it looks from the site like they're all wool. Anyone know of any fun designers that do rugs in vegan fibers? Preferably plant-based rather than synthetic -- the ones we have so far are mostly cotton with a couple of linen/flax/other stuff blends.

Plants feel pain too.

they are indeed nice rugs - but what i'm more into is the use of a horizontal plan press [poster drawers] as a piece of home furniture like is in 2 of those photos, i soooo want one.

Thanks for sharing, Palmetto. I think my question was about whether anyone knew anywhere to get vegan rugs, not whether plants feel pain.

I'm not sure wool falls into the category of animal slaughter or exploitation, since harvesting the wool doesn't harm the animal and doesn't require killing it.
