Floor Level Magazine Storage
Melbourne

As two people living under one small roof with a huge appetite for magazines, finding a storage solution for them that is attractive and easily accessible has so far eluded us. We are currently practising the ‘piles’ method, which is severely lacking in the attractiveness department. So when we saw this built in, low level shelving we just swooned.

The shelving is part of an interior by Albano Daminato, an architect working in Australia and Asia. We really like the floor level storage, which is un-obtrusive yet totally accessible. There are surely some DIY solutions around this idea. What are your thoughts?

Do you think there would be dust issues with them directly on the floor? It looks very stylish though.

you don't really need a built-in shelf for this -- just a pair of bookends.

I've always thought you could get a similar look by turning lack's on their side and putting them under windows... though I have to agree with miss sparrow that it seems you could just use a pair of bookends!

what a great idea......I like hanging on to my favorite magazines and occasionally I do refer to them. This idea is perfect because it allows for a huge amount.

Though they are accessible, they'd be pretty hard to peruse from that low height (and you may even need a flashlight to see the spines well enough). This looks great though.

I just go digital on publications to avoid having to store them at all, but I realize that's not for everyone.

Dear god it's boring. There must be more interesting ways to deal with magazine collections.
