How to: Create The Undercover Crate
Australia

100808milkcrate01.jpgMilk crates as storage has been done to death. We were sure that we were sick of it until we saw what Laura over at Paint in My Hair had masterminded. Jump below to see what she did to their plastic bones...

Laura created a slip cover! You still get all the great stackable, sturdy and square features of the standard milk crate but they look nice, bright and not tacky. Whilst souveniring milk crates from the supermarket is wrong, our local recycling depot sells them for a few dollars.

Wow - a milk crate post that isn't hideous!

This would make great magazine storage for the 400 magazines my other half says I'm not allowed to recycle.

"Whilst souveniring milk crates from the supermarket is wrong..." As a prosecutor I heard many euphemisms for stealing, but this was a new one.

They're cute. Unfortunately for me, I'll never get around to making these. So very close to being completely crate-free... I wish these covers would just make themselves - or something like that, yeah.

Eh... a milk crate is a milk crate - why bother hiding it. Embrace it's milk cratee-ness. As my friend said when he saw the milk-crate/ikea shelf concoction in front of my couch, "I love your ironic coffee table" (the non-ironic one is being constructed.
