Inspiration: Sydney Beach House Renovation
Sydney

042109age01.jpgWhat was once a families simple weatherboard holiday home by the beach, became a breathtaking space after a loving renovation. By knocking out 3 of the bedrooms inside, owner Pamela Makin created one large living space that looks straight out onto the Pacific Ocean. More of this brilliant house below the jump….

We really enjoy the mix of style of the furnishings and how it all ties together with a neutral colour scheme which is inspired by the nearby beach landscape. Our favourite element is the large worn tree trunk which Pamela’s husband found nearby and placed in the middle of their living room!

I love how all the elements from nature -- the plants, the tree trunk, the branches -- all are oversized for the space; it's so beautiful and wild-looking in an otherwise sparse and serene space. I especially love the tree growing through the deck!

Very, very beautiful. I would not feel at all comfortable in that space, and it's a good thing it's west coast because it would blow away in the first hurricane here, but it is beautiful.

Sydney's on Australia's east coast, seraph. And we don't get hurricanes :)

This is one of my favourite homes ever. This home appeared in Australian Vogue Living a few months ago, and I keep the issue close so I can look at it when I feel like dreaming! Where I live in Cape Town off the south west coast of Africa, we have a similar environment alongside the Atlantic, and several homes like this, but none I've seen do the natural look quite like this one. It's simply stunning!
