Jacqueline Knight at Canberra Glassworks
Canberra

091508glass01.jpgWe visited the Canberra Glassworks over the weekend and while there were a lot of great works, Jacqueline Knight’s pieces were outstanding. A one meter high solid green glass clothes peg dominated the exhibition room it was in, closely followed by her 60cm yellow glass button with rope thread.

091508glass02.jpgAfterwards, we looked further into Jacqueline’s work and found other pieces in this series include a purple zipper, red document fastener and a giant pearl necklace. While this group of work is focused on everyday items, there’s nothing everyday about seeing them on this scale and made out of glass

Jacqueline grew up in Canberra, working and studying throughout Australia until recently and is now located in Providence, Rhode Island.

This reminds me of a store my dad took me to in the 80's "THING BIG" where everything was oversized and kitchy. I LOVED it and spent hours looking at their catalog and roaming the aisles.
