We stumbled across this February 1976 issue of ‘Home Journal’ for just 40cents at our favourite op shop over the weekend and with and the feature article made us want to pull out our childhood meccano set and get making! Unfortunately, we didn’t have anywhere near enough pieces or the need for a loft bed complete with staircase, built in desk and wardrobe. Maybe you do? Click below for more great pictures of the construction of the loft and our male models pants…

I am in love with the male mom jeans.

LOL - who knew mom jeans would also look bad on men.

Hmmm... I actually think this isn't so bad. Maybe not in yellow but in piping like we saw in yesterday's post about that bed:

and here:

a pipe loft could work, no?

Those jeans!
No wonder everyone did LSD & Cocaine back then!

The photos are confusing. That's a wo-man in those jeans. That would have been pushing the limits of man jeans even in 1970's Australia.

I do remember seeing jeans like that on guys in my high school days. Not a lot. Not on me.
But yeah, they were tight back then, and left little to the imagination. O__O

Where is this op shop, if you don't mind me asking? I'm visiting Melbourne soon and wouldn't mind a look around!

Oh my God, this is what the world looked like when I was 13 years old. No wonder I am suck a freak. Seriously, those pants make me think that leisure suites weren't so bad after all.

ryttu3k - The op shop is the Three Legged Chair, 18 Progress Street, Mornington. [Open Mon-Fri 10-4, Sat 9-12:30] They've also put together a guide to all the other op shops in Mornington so while you're in the area you can visit them all.
The manager loves AT so be sure to mention it- you might even get a complimentary cup of coffee ;)
