More design from Australia’s capital city. Bison Stonewear has that warm, touchable quality that just exudes ‘home’. Their simply designed vases, mugs and bowls come in a range of muted colours that look like they were created with ‘favourite coffee cup’ in mind.
The range is produced in Canberra from fine Australian stoneware clay and all items are lead-free, food-safe and oven, dishwasher and microwave safe. The founder, Brian Tunks, was actually inspired to start Bison during ancient Greco-Roman excavations in the Middle East – he was digging up ceramics from civilisations long gone and saw that that their domestic pottery was all that remained!

At the risk of seeming grumpy, can I have a little rant? In theory it's great, as an Australian AT devotee, to see an occasional post from Oz. But so far, the Australian posts have nearly all:
a) read like advertisements
b) been embarrassingly sloppily written. Apostrophes in particular tend to go astray and reappear where they're not needed.
It really is fun to see what you've discovered down-under -- but the bad grammar and gushy tone are making us look bad!
But the stoneware is charming, and I'll check out their Melbourne shop asap.
